The West PSCO is organized for the purpose of supporting the education of children at West School by fostering relationships among the school, parents, and teachers.
The vision of the West PSCO is that all West students are high achieving and character driven young people who are well prepared for future academic and life success.
Our goals for the 2011/12 school year are to:
* Support class room based enrichment programs,
* Increase opportunities for high quality family/school engagement and
* Improve after school offerings through targeted fundraising and volunteer recruitment in support of the current clubs and teams and the possible expansion of new offerings.
Executive Committee Goals for 2011/12
President
* Support the achievement of Executive Committee Member goals
* Increase paid membership in the PSCO and active participation in the Committees
* Identify and apply for at least one grant opportunity for the PSCO in support of the 2011/12 goals
Vice President
* Support classroom based enrichment programs by establishing the Author Reading program as an annual PSCO program at West.
* Improve parent participation in support of West by working with the President to establish Committees in support of the 2011/12 programs and events supported by the PSCO.
* Increase community engagement by working with the Community Outreach rep to set up fundraiser nights at local restaurants/venues.
* Participate in an afterschool committee and aid in the support/establishment of at least two clubs/sports.
* Improve teacher participation in the PSCO by attending a staff meeting to speak to teachers and staff; bring two teachers who have never attended a PSCO meeting to at least one meeting this year.
Secretary
* Increase participation in PSCO general body meetings, Committees and volunteer opportunities by improving the advertisement of events, meetings and opportunities through the website, e-mail list, W, and in person recruitment
* Improve communication with the school body by posting meeting minutes to the website and sending an announcement to the email list within one week of the meeting.
* Improve the visibility and transparency of the PSCO by setting up and updating a PSCO information board at the school
Treasurer
* Increase the rate of individual membership support to the PSCO by soliciting membership dues of at least $1,000 for the year
* Improve financial transparency by increasing financial reporting to full membership from annually to twice per year
* Improve the effectiveness of the PSCO fundraising efforts by supporting the fundraising committee and securing volunteers to help support each of the main PSCO fundraisers
Community Outreach
* Secure in kind donations of at least 100.00 USD for each of the major family/school events.
* Organize at least one dine out per month
* Secure at least 5 community sponsors and PSCO members |
