The PSCO has established 6 Committees in support of activities at West.  We are actively recruiting members for these Committees.  Whether you are interested in helping with one particular activity or serving long term on a Committee West needs your support.  Below is the list of Committees and a brief description of the general scope.

 

1. Events - Each year the PSCO sponsors a series of family/school related events.  Members of this Committee will help plan for and secure volunteers to implement the Harvest Festival, Family Math Night, Family Reading Night and other events agreed with the Principal and PSCO Executive Committee.

 

2. Programs - The PSCO is currently sponsoring the Visiting Author Reading Program.  Members of this Committee will help with advertising the program, securing donations, picking authors/books and working with teachers on the implementation of the program.

New programs may be developed throughout the year.

 

3. Fundraising – The PSCO has set a goal of raising 35,000 for 2011/12.  This Committee will help support existing fundraisers, explore new fundraising options and help develop a 'signature' fundraiser for West.

4. Afterschool – The Afterschool offerings at West continue to epxnad and now include Aftercare, clubs, sports and other offerings.  This Committee will work with the Principal, Aftercare Coordinator and PSCO to support existing programs through volunteer recruitment, conduct a family survey to identify family needs/interests, and possibly develop relationships with organizations and individuals for new offerings.

 

5. Membership Outreach – Volunteers and donations are a vital part of the contribution the PSCO makes to the programs at West.  This Committee will focus on creating community partnerships and securing volunteers for events and programs.

 

6. Recruitment – Each year a new crop of families join West.  This Committee will support the annual open houses, pre school play dates and conduct outreach to new families.
