In collaboration with the Preschool and Prekindergarten teachers, the art room is also exploring building, construction, and measuring with the early childhood students at West!  So if your kids have outgrown their legos, building blocks, lincoln logs or any other building materials, please consider donating them to the art room to help our students explore their "Measure Up" unit with hands on activities.  Please contact Mrs. Bradley at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Welcome to Mrs. Zekas and the newly reestablished Music and Arts program at West.

About Me: I will be starting my third year of teaching in DCPS this year at West, and I could not be more excited. I spent my first two years at another DCPS school where I helped create school murals, sponsored ski trips, and created our first school yearbook. I look forward to bringing these things and so much more to West. I spend my time away from school working to develop my personal art business, exploring new adventures with my husband, and playing tug-o-war with my puppy, Zeek. I also travel home to Ohio any chance I get to see my family and friends who have supported and loved me from afar.

Education: I began my college career at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia where I played volleyball and studied education for two years. However, I graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art Education with a focus in Photography.

Favorite Book or Related Interest: My favorite childhood book is Where the Wild Things Are, while my favorite artistic books are anything by Eric Carle and Robert Sabuda’s pop-ups. My favorite “grown up” books include Kissing Outside the Lines, Eat Pray Love, and the Millennium Trilogy. I also enjoy doing anything outdoors and anything creative!

Hopes and Dreams for the 2011-2012 SY: I hope that my students will achieve at least 80% mastery of the visual arts standards and gain an appreciation for art through hands-on exploration and independent discovery.
