Welcome Mr. Harvey! 

My name is Carlington Harvey. I was born and raised in Jamaica, and lived there for twenty one years. I migrated to the United State in January, 1999. I have been teaching in the District since 2005. I started out at Janney Elementary, and now I’m here at West, where I hope to create an environment where everyone will have success and fun in physical education. Helping students develop the necessary motor skills and movement patterns required to participate in a variety of physical activities, and exhibit an active lifestyle, has always been my goal.

I attended Montgomery College for one year, Frostburg State University for one year, and graduated with a BS in Physical Education and a Minor in Sports Administration and Coaching from Columbia Union College, now called Washington Adventist University. I am currently the head coach for the Women’s Soccer Team at Washington Adventist University.

In my spare time I love playing soccer and basketball, coaching various sports, watching comedies, reading mainly sports-related books, magazines and articles, and spending time with the family. I live in Takoma Park, Maryland, with my wife and our three daughters. My wife is a second grade teacher at Takoma Park Elementary School in Montgomery County.

My vision is to develop students who are intellectually curious learners who demonstrate ethics and character in the pursuit of excellence. Most of all I want to inspire them to maintain an active lifestyle, which will enable them to live a healthy, productive life.
