Noise “Zones”

In order to maintain a learning environment that is orderly and focused on instruction, it is necessary to implement a set of voice zones for all common areas of the building. All students are expected to use the following zones while on school property. Signs will be posted in all student occupied areas indicating the appropriate noise zones. Disciplinary action will be taken for students that do not follow these guidelines.

• Zone 0 = No Talking

• Zone 1 = Whisper

• Zone 2 = Neighbor Voice:

o The people sitting next to or across from you (at the table) should hear you.

• Zone 3 = Presentation Voice:

o This should be used when speaking in front of the class or speaking at an assembly.

• Zone 4 = Recess:

o This is your outside voice and the loudest volume on the voice level scale. This voice level is used exclusively outdoors during recess time.

West is excited to announce the - Pathway to Success: Tigers ROAR Incentive Program.

The “Pathway to Success: Tigers ROAR Incentive Program,” is a school-wide program to improve the overall academics of students and behavior in the school; therefore improving the success of all students. The program promotes positive success and rewards students who do well both academically and behaviorally.

The Tigers ROAR Incentive Program focuses on four target behaviors for success. We expect our students to be: Respectful, Organized, Attentive, and Responsible (ROAR).

As a part of the program, when students demonstrate the target behaviors, they are to be rewarded with “Tiger Tickets” for doing so (using the criteria on the back as a guide). Tiger Tickets are given to students when they are “caught” exhibiting targeted behaviors. Students turn in the tickets in their classrooms in order to have a chance to win biweekly prizes through drawings and/or the chance to attend special events. Information about special events will be forthcoming.

It is our hope that we will all work together to ensure that the Tigers ROAR Incentive Program is successful. Parents/Guardians, please encourage your child(ren) to engage in positive behaviors and aim for success. If you want to donate to the incentive program or if you have questions or concerns, see Ms. Caruthers or Mrs. Paige. Let’s continue the “Pathway to Success.
