small-group instruction
To further student achievement, West employs guided reading and math groups to increase instructional time spent in small groups.
At West, we seek to meet the unique academic needs of all our scholars. We know some scholars need challenge and extensions, and some may need specific, targeted support in certain subjects.
To ensure that we address the varying needs in each class, teachers work with small groups of scholars, all having the same academic needs, in both reading and math. This allows the teacher to create specific mini-lessons to support and challenge each group.
While the teacher is working with scholars in small groups, other scholars are working independently, collaboratively or online, using individualized learning curriculum. Following are some of the online tools that we use at West:
Please note: All of these learning programs can be used at home.
Each student has a unique log-in and password that can be obtained from his or her teacher.
