After 8:45 AM
Students are to enter through the main entrance on Farragut Street and report to the MAIN OFFICE to get a late pass.
Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade will be dismissed from their classrooms. Students in Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 should be picked up from their classroom playground areas. Students in grades 6-8 will be dismissed from the doors on Gallatin Street. Parents should bring a photo ID when picking up their scholars.

Every Day Counts! Each school day is a new opportunity for our students to learn and grow. We all have a role to play in ensuring students get to school, ready to learn, and understand that #EveryDayCounts. Go to attendance.dc.gov to learn more.

Before-School Care is a school-sponsored program, available to 75 students on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is $50 per month for one child or $75 per month for families with siblings. Students who participate in Before-School Care will be allowed to enter the building at 8 AM, through the gym doors. Students will report to the cafeteria and read a book or work quietly on an activity. At 8:30 AM, students will head immediately to their classrooms for the start of the school day and breakfast in the classroom. Children who are not on our Before-School Care roster will not be allowed to enter school before 8:30 AM. Safety always comes first, and we must maintain a safe and reasonable adult-to-student ratio. We do offer a limited number of spots free of charge.
Please note: This year, we are offering a very limited number of spots beginning at 7:30 AM. Early Arrival Care will be available for a fee of $120 per month for one child, $150 per month for families with siblings.
Students enrolled in our Before-School Care program must adhere to school-wide expectations and the behavior policy; any scholar not adhering to our behavior expectations will be uninvited from the program, and other accommodations will need to be secured.

Through the DCPS Out of School Time Program, West offers After-School Care from 3:30 PM to 6 PM on school days, unless notified otherwise. Enrollment is limited, and space fills up quickly. Parents/Guardians first must submit their school-year enrollment forms for students before enrolling in After-School Care. (Please allow two business days for our school registrar to complete your child’s paperwork.) NOTE: Registration for the DCPS Out of School Time Program (aftercare) has been rescheduled to begin at 9 AM on Friday, June 1. Click here to register >>
Your child’s student ID is helpful in accessing the online system; West’s school registrar can tell you your child’s student ID if you do not know it. You also can look up your child’s record using his/her name, date of birth and school name. For assistance, contact Mr. Pinkard, our school registrar.
